Aussie beer glass sizes

Pot, Schooner, Midi or just confused? Well so were we, so we decided to do an episode about beer glass sizes.
Check it out and you'll now be able to sound like a local anywhere in Australia...

G’day Gents, great episode. Especially like Ty’s green hoodie. Also – I reckon they call a pot a “handle” in NT cos of the style of glass they are referring to. You know those old style glass beer mugs with the sort of grid pattern on the sides and the handle for pick up? The older beer drinking gentlemen often use them due to their easy pick up. Keep up the good work, cheers.

And who said size doesn’t matter! Very educational guys! As a South Australian I’ve always been confused and find myself asking for a “beer” rather than a pot/schooner/pint. I’m not sure why the rest of the country has it all so wrong, but at least now I can order in confidence! Will look forward to the next episode!

Great episode – Even though I came to Australia on the first fleet I never knew that it wasnt that complicated. I think I will order one of each next time I am out. I would love a beer at a size between the pot and the schooner. Maybe this could be called a “banna toolbox” so it didint get mixed up with any other sizes or just a plain “potsch”.

Good O Ty&co’s !! interesting ep and the camera really suits- u blokes should have done this after a couple to add some flavour to the measuring? Kinda like “the hangover’

How about some links to some piss funny beer commercials – my favourite the vbers boonie and garlic sauce commercials….classic

    Cheers

Hi guys, most informative. Interesting that in NT a pot is called a handle. Along the lines of Raging Al’s comment, when I worked in bars in the late 70′s (in Vic, 7oz glass was the standard drink, 10oz/285mL pot was the big one), many blokes liked a “pot with a handle” so as not to warm the beer up with their hands. They would get quite cranky if we had run out and had to serve an ordinary pot.

PS – Hi Ty (your “boss-in-law”)

Great job lads.. Now its no wonder smashing down those pints leaves one in a spot of bother! Looking forward to more of the beer family tree..

    G’day,

I found this web page while *googling* Knappstein reserve lager. What a terrific site!keep it up. I have just watched the glass sizes episode, fantastic!

One tiny criticism, please try and filter out that horrendous echo in the audio, it makes it difficult to hear the talking properly.

    Otherwise, beers and cheers.
